Job’s Daughters
International
2011-2012 Monthly Promotion Challenge
Each month, we want your help to get the word out about
Job’s Daughters. Being active in our communities and serving those worldwide
will help us to gain a wider recognition. In our lessons, we are taught that
to be fair is to do well for others. Each of us has something special to
offer and we hope you’ll join with us in promoting our beautiful Job’s
Daughters. A special prize will be given to each Bethel that completes
every monthly challenge by uploading a picture to the JDI Facebook:
Pick a park, beach, lake, or
river in your community and see what you can do to spruce it up! Conduct a
trash pick-up or flower planting day and remember to invite the media.

Time to learn and grow, get
smarter and wiser! It’s a new year at school. Do your friends know about
Job’s Daughters? There are fun ways that you and your Jobie sisters can
promote Job’s Daughters at school – pick a day or two each week to wear
Jobie t-shirts, make book covers and decorate with lots of fun Jobie
messages, use Jobie purple back packs, and educate your girl friends about
all the fun you have with Job’s Daughters.

Thank the Troops and
Veterans for their Heroic Service!
We encourage every Job’s
Daughter and adult volunteer to write a letter to our troops. Working
through Operation Gratitude, a written letter is a meaningful way for to
show support for our Military. It only take a few minutes and will bring
lasting joy and to our troops and Wounded Warriors. Share about the
patriotic lessons which you learn about in Job’s Daughters, and ways that
Job’s Daughters takes pride in their Country. Collect as many letters as you
can and place them in a large envelope and ship to: Operation Gratitude,
17330 Victory Boulevard, Van Nuys, CA 91406.

Bethel #17 Nebraska changed things up a bit on the letters
to troops. Instead of sending letters through Operation
Gratitude, they joined a community wide effort to provide
Christmas cards to servicemen on active duty and in various
care facilities (VA hospitals, etc.) around the world
through the American Red Cross. We used coloring page art to
make cards that the girls took home and colored & added
their own greetings to on the inside.
Wrap it up with a smile and
a plug for Job’s Daughters
During the holiday season,
many shoppers use volunteer gift wrapping services to help reduce stress and
strain. Contact your local mall and request to take a shift with your Jobie
sisters. Wrap gifts for others and make sure to let them know that you’re a
Job’s Daughter and serving the community is one of our values. Keep some
brochures and business cards on hand, and write down contact information of
those who seem interested so you can follow-up with them later with an
invitation to your Installation of Officers.
Coordinate a Coat Drive –
Donate Coats on behalf of Job’s Daughters International
Fall and winter months bring
thoughts of the holidays and hot chocolate, but many Americans dread the
year's coldest weather because they can't afford warm outerwear. With so
many people struggling financially because of unemployment and the troubled
economy, the issue is critical. That's why ABC’s Good Morning America
partners with Burlington Coat Factory and the nonprofit organization One Warm Coat to sponsor a coat drive for the needy. (http://abcnews.go.com/GMA/WarmCoats/)
Get together and make Jobie or
HIKE themed valentines for your friends, neighbors, or even the Boys & Girls
Club or Senior Center. Always make sure your Jobie contact information is
on the back of the valentine, or staple a business card to the back.
In Honor of Mother Mick’s
Birthday, schedule an Open Meeting or a presentation at your local library
or community center for interested young women and their families. This may
also include participation in a St. Patrick’s Day parade or taking part in a
Women’s History Month event or activity to promote Job’s Daughters.
Find a local 5K race (or walk)
to participate in together as a Bethel. Or, volunteer to help with the water
station and pass cups of fresh water to those hard-working runners and
walkers. Wear a uniform t-shirt so everyone will know who you are.
June – Jobies Appreciate Police, Fire, and Rescue
Personnel
Make it a point this month to
let your local police and fire departments know how much we appreciate their
protection. Bake some cookies, cook a dinner, make care packages, draw
artwork for their station house, or any other simple way to say thank you.
Like with all the other monthly challenges, make sure you take promotional
information with your goodies. Invite other Masonic Youth organizations in
your community (if they are present) to join you in recognizing the
important work these professionals do on a daily basis.
This month make your best
Jobie promotional video! Get your sisters together and develop a 30- to
60-second Public Service Announcement (PSA) sharing about your activities
over the last year. Upload the video to YouTube or Facebook for everyone to
see. Contact your local TV stations and ask if they can show the spot during
July. Videos will be showcased in Baltimore during Supreme Session!
